VFN Net Preamble

Calling the Va Fone Net ... Calling the Va Fone Net ... Calling the Va Fone Net ...

This is (call sign) _______ and my name is _______ and I will be your Net Control for the VFN.
My QTH is ________ and my Net Number is ________

Is there any emergency, priority or time valued traffic for the net?

Is there an area 4 representative on frequency tonight?

The VA FONE NET is an independent directed net which meets twice daily at 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm on 3.947 Mhz to pass traffic into, out of and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia as a public service and to handle net business and informal messages for amateurs and non-amateurs and to promote friendship and fellowship among all radio amateurs.  All amateurs are welcome to check in.

Are there any Health and welfare messages?

Do we have any formal, informal or QNC's for the net?

WE ASK THAT ALL STATIONS NOT INTERESTED IN THE VFN TO PLEASE QSY SLIGHTLY AND POLITELY SO WE CAN HANDLE THE NET BUSINESS AND TURN THE FREQUENCY BACK TO NORMAL AMATEUR USE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.  THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.

Calling Net:

Today is an Even day and I will start at number 1 and work my way to 150
Today is an ODD day and I will start at number 150 and work my way to 1

Are there any mobiles wishing to check into the VFN?

Are there any “Life Members” with VFN Life member numbers wishing to check in?

Call for Net Members - 1-25     26-50     51-75     76-100     101-125     126-150
(Reverse order for ODD days)  at the end make a call for any Late check-ins anywhere on the roster

Get comments from Mobiles and stations wth true emergencies should always take precedence and come first (some NCS's like to get them while they can still hear them)
Get comments from Net Members in the order the roll was called (Check for late check-ins at every 25 or 50 roster numbers, depending upon how many check-ins you have)

VISITORS -- The VFN Bylaws recommend calling visitors last, but this decision is left to each Net Control to do as  they see fit
Just call for visitors in-state and then for visitors out-of-state.  Comments from Visitors should come in the same order as you have called them.

Closing the Net - Make one final call forcheck-ins
Ok nothing heard, this will conclude this afternoons/evenings net.  Thanks to all who participated!  We will look for you tomorrow at 4:00 pm or 7:30 pm on 3.947 Mhz.
This is _____________ turning the frequency back to general amateur use.  Good afternoon or good night to all.
